| Comment | Lateral flows aren’t 100% accurate. The reason we’ve to do them is to try and pick up most asymptomatic covid infection (hopefully) and get those people to isolate to stop them spreading it. It’s a relatively cheap, fast, do at home test, so is good for this type of mass screening.
If you have symptoms you HAVE TO GET a PCR test. Go get it. Covid is not just the three listed symptoms of cough or fever or loss of taste/smell. You can get others. People working in hospitals have a longer list of symptoms that trigger a PCR test because they are working with those already vulnerable. PCR is a lot more sensitive so is used to target symptomatic people |
