Weird. I missed an installment in November cos I forgot to pay, and they just sent me a letter with a 'new payment plan' that automatically split November's payment across the remaining month (i.e. instead of paying £160/month I now have to pay £200/month until March to cover the amount I missed). Phone up the council and ask if you can do that
