I would reiterate that ranking tables are not a great metric for university (e.g. Measuring via entry standards. I've had mates that have studied both at Glasgow and strathclyde engineering departments. I studied at glasgow engineering.


Id suggest the extra curricular opportunities are better at Glasgow (sports clubs etc) as well as the student unions for drinking and general campus. Mind you I'm not sure how much covid might impact that!

@OP Id say go for Glasgow if you think you will be OK with direct 2nd year entry (if you have very good grades etc). I generally got good grades in schools (A's/B's) and found getting a 2:1 quite hard).

If not I still think glasgow is great to study at and wouldn't be put off. If I could choose in your shoes I'd choose Glasgow either 1st or 2nd year. University isn't only about education and to be honest building soft skills, joining sports clubs eg. Imo more important (and making sure to get a 2;1 minimum)
