See, I still maintain that we played it the 'real' way as kids, in that someone else announcing that they lost the game didn't make you lose the game. You could only lose if you thought of the game yourself. This meant we would always laugh at the person who lost, instead of getting angry at them losing. (I am also from America and have encountered many people who played it both ways in the states, but people in the UK seem to only play it the 'wrong' way)
