| Comment | Most people on this sub live unfulfilling lives. They are most likely bullied or ignored in the real world and insignificant in their working lives. The only power they have in their existence is downvoting somebody who’s opinion they don’t like, and by joining a virtual gang to abuse people, on a subreddit that is a magnet for the city’s social outcasts. (Even the forum moderator likes to chime in and act like a cunt by making irrelevant comments. Don’t worry, calling them a cunt is perfectly allowable on this sub. Their own words.)
The internet, this sub in particular, is a harbour for people who don’t do well in real world social situations to group together online, and feel a sense of belonging. A group. A gang. Hive mentality. Group think. A virtual 00’s Young Team but for adults who wouldn’t dare be controversial or voice their opinion so aggressively in person.
Nobody can have an objective, reasonable debate or discussion. They pick a side and defend it to the death because its a popular opinion. They will downvote you and fall on that sword before they see reason.
Life is not always about taking sides. Not everything is black or white. Not everything is left or right. |
