I would suggest that you don't rule out buying a property based on the furniture you have as that can be replaced later. You wil limit yourself a lot if you rule out of good places just cause a wardrobe won't fit.

I am saying this as we bought a ground floor flat based on having a kid and not wanting to carry a pram up stairs.

18 months later the kid was walking and we had missed out loads of good places cause they were on the 2nd floor.
