My girlfriend tested positive for covid yesterday on a rapid test. No symptoms other than a small cough. We wouldn't be fussed about it in normal times as we were boosted weeks ago, however we're now stuck in the US for god knows how long.

It's 1am here and my head is in a spin trying to work out what the ever loving fuck to do. Fortunately we can isolate at her families home as they live here but I've no idea if I should follow US rules which are less onerous than at home (only 5 days self isolation for positive cases, nothing for close contacts). Technically I don't need to isolate at the moment although I still am. US rules suggest we can still return this weekend assuming we both get negative tests. However, Scottish rules mean I'd have to stay here until about January 14th, even if I continue to test negative.

Fuck knows what I'll do with my rental car here, work, flights and car parking in Edinburgh - it's really ruined what was otherwise a good trip, especially for my girlfriend as she hadn't seen some of her family and friends for two years now.

Guess that's the risk of travelling abroad at the moment though. Anyway, hope your day/week does better than mine. Just needed to get that off my chest! (Any advice would be appreciated!)
