£600 for a full day is not unusual for decent work these days. If it's a large piece it would probably take a full day anyway, unless you wanted to split it into 2 x 3 hour sittings.
Sile Sanda would be my recommendation, he's at Dark Ink Tattoo. No idea what he charges though.
