| Comment | This is why I think crossings should have physical barriers or gates: don't give any road users the option to move until they have right of way, whether accidentally or intentionally (yes, pedestrians could climb over, but there's not much can be done about that). There are companies making rising bollards that can stop HGVs, so handling cars and bicycles needn't be a problem. It could probably even be funded by imposing excessive fines on the people stupid enough to hit them (or their estates). |
