It has been used for gang fights in the past as well as just lobbing bricks at cars and people travelling underneath.
Back in the old “A” division days of Strathclyde police, they would need to send multiple units or the carrier van with near enough the whole shift in it to deal with this area. Often the tactic was simply to send a car close by (visible but away from brick throwing distance). That was sometimes enough to send them running along the path out of sight and out of mind. Any non local with common sense would stay well away from the path on Friday and Saturday evenings. |
