It’s not a massive deal but there are always things to go to. There are less things about this year due to covid.

Burns suppers, for someone who didn’t go to school in Scotland (we had Burns poetry inflicted, sorry, I mean taught to us for years) or have a vague understanding of burns, there not the best thing to go to unless your with a group. There’s usually a three course meal with burn’s poetry readings. There’s usually toasts which, if done well, should be very funny. I’m not a major burns enthusiast, but I do think Burns Suppers are good fun if a big group of people go. Add a ceilidh and it’s a fantastic night (ceilidhs are nowhere near covid safe).

There is a Best of Scottish Comedy at The Stand in the west end for burns night which would be good. The national trust is doing an online thing, Burns Big Night Inn if you want to have a look.

If you want a bit of a different thing for Robert burns, there’s a play that Oran mor does intermittently called The Ghosting of Rabbie Burns. It’s not next on until mid February so not really Burns’ night but have a look
