The death of high streets is inevitable, nothing will stop that. Why trek into town on a miserable rainy day when you could do it on your sofa in your PJ's.

This isn't a problem unique to Glasgow or any other specific location. That said, the West end around Byres road is still flourishing as a high street, loads of independent places and new places cropping up all the time, and it's always mobbed with shoppers & people going out at the weekends
