>way to drive into a miserable city centre to go shopping?

The city Centre constantly takes a bashing on here and whilst there are problems, I just don't recognise the description of it a lot of the time. There are certain parts of it that are scruffy as fuck (four corners, trongate, sauchiehall Street past West Nile Street) but large swatches of it are beautiful and a million times better than it was 20-25 years ago.

What it may need to do is change it's focus to more concentrated areas with specific focus on independent boutiques and clothes shops, fabric shops, art shops etc etc.

I can only speak for myself but yer Silverburns, and Braeheads are just homogenous hell holes with dreadful shops like River Island, Topman and Burtons. Fuck me, Silverburn even has a full shop dedicated to New Builders with 'Gin O Clock' Signs and 'It's prosecco time' doormats, it's hell on earth.

The city centre needs to diversify to survive, but it's a tragedy that its being marginalised by such inferior places like Silverburn and Braehead.
