Comment | Hey this is all amazing! And sounds like you have amazing support. I'm just popping my head in to say there may be some community resources in the area that can help. Places that I've found help and information before are bridgeton library (they done a lot of local history work a few years ago). The Glasgow woman's library, it's based in that area and by the sounds of this story this man might be known within the community and something about him might turn up in more informal recollections. The Calton hereitage centre/community centre. This one is a bit weird but there's the weavers association. Because one of the main building in the area was a carpet factory there's definitely social histories captured by them I've seen in exhibitions ect. One thing I do know Is communities talk and if he's been in the pub game and left a family there will have been gossip that could have be passed around and then down. From my own experience my aunt conducted a silimar search a few years ago as I have a great great grandfather that got about a bit so if you would like me to ask her for any tips fire me a message. We've connected with family all over since it kicked off. Lastly, your realitive that isn't doing too great these days I pass on my love to him. Sorry there's a lot of info and I struggle remembering all the bits. But if he grew up in Glasgow please consider playing him some of the mother tounge. There's loads of Billy Connelly and old Scottish comedy on YouTube. It's something I've found a lot of scattered Scots find comforting when far from home. Good luck!! |
