| Comment | The numbers (as linked) show that Glasgow do more than other places, on an anecdotal basis I am on a fairly friendly basis with 2 litter pickers that I see regularly enough that I will say hello and have even had a chat with them a few times. I don't remember ever seeing a council litter picker in any other place I have lived let alone see them enough to be on a friendly basis with them.
My council tax pays for the council to pick up the bins, it admittedly could do a better job of that but anyone who has picked up litter around this city will tell you very little of the cities trash comes from overflowing bins. My council tax is not for the council to employ the literal thousands of people it would take to go around and clean up after all the litterers in Glasgow and by blaming it on council mismanagement you are very much letting the people at fault for the problem off the hook and ensuring that the problem does not actually get fixed. |
