Software engineer here (silly fancy name for a programmer) - all I can add is that I’ve been programming for 30 years - the last 25 of those years are in the industry after getting my computing science honours degree. In terms of maths, I’ve never needed or used it whatsoever other than arithmetic which is used constantly. If maths is the stumbling block I’d go for the degree without it but if you feel you’re lacking their then it’s definitely worth doing. Numbers were always kinda easy for me.

The degree is really just to get your foot in the door anyway. You don’t really know anything until you start working - and I say that as someone that coded in their bedroom (well, fannied about) for five years prior as a teenager
