My girlfriend has waited 4 years to be seen to bc the GP brushed her off every time, even after numerous suicide attempts. I’m also transgender and instead of helping me with that they sent me to ‘self esteem’ classes and told me the only thing wrong with me was a lack of confidence. Thankfully after fighting them all these years we were finally referred to somewhere that deals solely with mental health, but it’s been a long road to get here.
This isn’t to say they’re all like this but our experience hasn’t been great, the biggest advice I can give is don’t let up and push your gp into it if they won’t listen. Good luck I hope you’re experience turns out a good one! |
