You’re absolutely spot on about the funding these large charities get and how sickening it is that nothing seemingly tangible is done with that money. I get so pissed when I walk down Buchanan street and see charity fundraisers on £10/hour, reporting into massive management structures where someone’s on 6 figures somewhere - telling me my £5/month direct debit is curing cancer/tackling homelessness/solving world hunger/insert cause here when all it’s doing is covering that persons wage for half an hour…

Smaller community led charities like do so much more to help communities so that’s where the money should be going.

For what it’s worth - might not be the best advice for everyone but I’ve always found the best solace in community groups on social media. Soberbuzz Scotland, Sobergirl Society and various online drug and alcohol coaches did so much more for my sobriety than any charity or local service did.
