In an ideal world that would be true. Traffic congestion if everyone drove to work would be a nightmare; but I suppose that’s where the question over so many driving to work at a hospital maybe needs to also be questioned.

I don’t believe (maybe wrong) that many NHS staff use their own car for work. Midwives is the clear exemption I can think of.

Your other point - it would be ideal for employers to provide both parking and cars in such occasions. However ask support workers from a variety of backgrounds and many will confirm they do not have the use of pool cars and parking in many instances around the city are a nightmare. I am aware that in many education settings - many family support teams have issues over having children in the car over business insurance & needing to use their own car. It differs from school to school in my experience - but a key job role about visiting families has been an issue because staff aren’t allowed/willing to use their car during working hours for visits.
