I’ve posted about this before, but this is my experience.

I had tickets for Playground 2020, which I bought mainly to see Flaming Lips. Covid hit, got moved to 2021, and the line up changed.

Saw Flaming Lips were due to play opening weekend at Junction 1 and bought tickets. Money left my account and thought it was unusual that the debit was Junction 1 and not Ticketmaster, SeeTickets etc.

Few months later, see a Junction 1 FB post announcing Flaming Lips have cancelled and refunds will be issued from the ticket seller.

Hear nothing. I tried to contact Junction 1 by phone (line disconnected), Instagram (page closed) and email and FB (no reply to either).

Went down the chargeback route and by bank (Monzo) had the money back to me within the day.

To date I have heard nothing from Junction 1, other than the public FB post.

About 2 weeks after the Junction 1 gig, Flaming Lips announced they are playing the Barras on the same date as they were due to play J1, so they are keeping the gig, juts not the venue.

It is strange to me that Hot Chip pulled out our Playground, along with other acts, but were then announced as playing this gig. Hot Chip have nothing on their own website about this gig.

I genuinely feel for the entertainment industry - act and all the associated people that are involved with putting on the show, and want live music venues in the city I live in. But I always remember the saying, “if it’s brown and smells like shite….”
