Comment | I think in Edinburgh the poverty and drug abuse issues aren't much seen in the centre of it, unlike Glasgow. It may be the case that it's concentrated in areas of the city outwith the centre, but I wonder how they disguise it or keep it from the eyes of tourists. Surely they'd hang out where there's more people, more chance of getting a few quid from people, etc.? Maybe the police there are tougher on them. I'm sorry that I'm ignorant of like for like figures regarding levels of poverty, homelessness, drug abuse, etc between the two cities, but I wouldn't think Glasgow would fare much worse adjusting for population. But yeah, you're absolutely right that it's much more noticeable in Glasgow on the face of it. |
