I stayed in Farme Cross (Just across from the big Tesco) for a few years up until the start of 2018 and it was fine. The Main Street and the arcade certainly aren't the most pleasing on the eye but they've got your essentials and it's always busy, which I really liked. Lidl, Aldi, Tesco all within walking distance of each other, you can get to Glasgow Green fairly quickly as well, which is great during the summer.

For me though, undoubtedly the main advantage of living there was the public transport. I didn't drive at that time and trains were excellent, every 15 mins or so and you can be in the city centre in under 10 mins and Finnieston in about 15. Buses are pretty decent and you can get 18, 267, 263 etc all into town and it'll take you 25 mins or so. Buses upto Duke Street and over to the southside as well (7 & 90).

Depends on your perspective, but there's not a lot of great places in Ruggy in terms of boozers, cafes, restaraunts but you are so well connected to the rest of the city that you can be anywhere else fairly quickly.
