It's just a football team to me, it's only the dafties who attach any extra meaning to it.

Obviously there are a loud minority who would probably rather people like me didn't go anywhere near Ibrox, but that just encourages me to go more than it puts me off, hopefully it annoys them. Most of them don't even see themselves as Scottish, you think I'm gonna take any notice of what these folk think about such things?

Maybe I've just been lucky, but none of my mates who support Rangers are anti-Catholic or anti-Irish, and I can't recall having ever working with anyone who was openly bigoted. From my experience, when I have met bigots, they have always, without fail, had one other factor in common; they have all been utter morons in every other sense as well. It's people who literally can't process the world around themselves who resort to holding these views. I'm not gonna waste a second worrying about them.

While I do think pretty lowly of these people, I do feel sorry for them somewhat. Most well balanced people, and football fans, have a life outside of football; they have other hobbies, loving families, friends from many different places, etc. But perhaps another common factor amongst the bigots, is that they don't have these things; football (and the shite they attach to it) is their only hobby, and their only mates are fellow football fans. That obviously creates a situation where people can easily be somewhat "radicalised". Bearing in mind that we are talking about people who generally struggle to hold a conversation about much and don't fully understand the world (or at least haven't been educated about it); I strongly suspect that many of them fall into supporting a football team as a means of gaining social acceptance. The only requirement is to support the team and you will be accepted by the fans, and you can just go into the supporters club or wherever and spark up a conversation with anyone you want over your team, etc. and there we go, now everyone can make pals. But then your new pals ask you to come to some orange walk or some shit, and tell you it's all to do with Rangers; most will just go along with it as it's just part of their social group to them, they won't really even think about its meaning other than going on a day out with the pals they once feared they might never have, or maybe they just won't fully understand the meaning at the time, and that's them in and then it's difficult to ever get them to see the wrongs of it. I think it's fair to say that people in general seem to have problems admitting to themselves that they are wrong, and will go down with a sinking ship if it means being able to feel right. (see brexiteers and tory voters for other examples of people behaving like this in recent times).

So aye, I'm not too bothered about what they are saying, get it up them.

(But mon the Rangers)
