I'm Scottish. I wasn't upset by it. Ok we're the baddies in it but I suppose someone has to be.
The main guy's accept was pretty bad in places but a decent effort and surpasses Mel Gibson's efforts.
It's a bit of fun. I take the point about the black watch. No Scot wants to see one of the most famous regiments appear not to have the balls whereas a rich English lad has the courage to do what they can't or won't. I don't want to get caught up in a discussion on trench warfare (I could bleat on for days). Countless stories of heroism on both sides. Have a read about Siegfried Sassoon (aka Mad Jack). Oxbridge poet and English gentleman who was awarded the MC for bravery.
Back to the film. It's a bit of fun. My 16 year old son and I went to the cinema and both loved it. We had a rare night out together and a good time so I'm a fan of this film. |
