It's got a lot more difficult to rent as a postgrad student these days, a lot of estate agents don't seem to understand the difference and usually flat out refuse us as well. I've had more luck with private rents, they seem ok with it once we explain the stipend situation etc.
Estate agents usually require a UK-based guarantor for any student on the lease, regardless of past renting history etc. Again, not usually as big an issue with private landlords, especially if it's a couple where one partner is an employee somewhere. |
