I had a couple of chancers last year switching price tags, then getting all indignant at me, and screeching how dare I imply they were up to something. Like you say, they were just wanting the argument, so they more they swore at me, threatened to jump me, and called me a effing spastic, the bigger I grinned at them, wished them a good day and told them "god bless you" (I'm not religious, but it utterly threw their attempt at a fight, and they stormed out the shop screaming incoherently. It was GREAT).

But yeah, the types of folk you get coming in to a charity shop Mon-Fri between 9-5 are often the folk who, umm, can't hold down a job Monday-Friday 9-5. Plus the mums, the OAPs, the childminders, and the slightly confused folk with a day off work clearing out their houses who're pleasantly surprised that yes, we'll take all their crap.

Aye, the other one who kept touching me last month, made the mistake of sneaking up behind me and grabbing me when I was in with the kids as a customer of the shop, so I let rip in front of the wee grannies telling him to keep his hands off me and that he did NOT have consent to keep touching me. Apparently he's not been back either.

And yeah, some of the regulars are so lovely, and you feel so bad that you're probably the only human contact they've had all week, but there's always that sense that they'd turn on you so quick over 50p worth of tat.

Thanks for the good wishes - I've volunteered regularly in there since 2011, but now I've got paid work three days a week, I think I need to give it a break before my "I'm not getting paid to take THIS crap" attitude shows through too much ;)

And hijack away! Always good to swap stories from the battlefront.
