An addendum to this is form is everything. Practice form religiously, ensure you're hitting depth in your squat, even if you feel like an idiot lifting just the bar in the rack, get your form right above all. If it's wrong when you're at lower weights you will only injure yourself down the road.

Allan Thrall has excellent videos on correct form for the, main lifts which are no nonsense and accurate.
