New build owner here. Been in the house for 9 months.

The reasons were pretty much as outlined in other posts. Couldn't be fucked paying 20% over home report for a semi that needed a new kitchen/ bathroom/ full refurb. We were looking around Clarkston and the prices were mental.

We ended up viewing some new builds in between EK and Glasgow. Small development of only 60 houses and were surrounded by woodland that will never be built on. Not one of the big housebuilders.

So far the snagging has been fine. A few minor cosmetic issues. Structurally everything has been perfect.

We're in a very big 4 bed detached with garage, driveway for 4 cars and a very large garden.

For what we paid for this, that would have been the "offers over" figure for somewhere around Clarkston for a much smaller property that needed a shitload of work.

We don't have kids and won't be having them, so we weren't bothered about any school catchment areas
