If you're finding it hard to stand out amongst your peers, it usually means your CV doesn't look good enough. Look at Google Docs CV templates and pick whatever one is both slick and has the best format to display the most info on just two pages (I.e. something with a heading column, writing columns for experience, and listing column for your traits/qualities).

Again using Google templates, write a cover letter about yourself and all your most transferable skills. Things that would be valuable in any workplace. Cover letters make candidates stand out from all those who never used one. Don't write more than a page, otherwise it's not a cover. Before submitting it for each job, simply edit the company names and job roles each time, tweak little things if need be. This gives the illusion of researching the job and putting effort into the application without actually doing so.

As for side hussles, I used to buy cheaply listed phones from gumtree and sell them on eBay. There was a big enough price gap that it made it worthwhile, but you need to account for eBays 10% fee, postage and unfortunately scammers.
