Using the shortest driving distances from Glasgow direct, Istanbul slightly edges longest distance 2285 miles v Moscow at 2181.

Add in stops at train stations Istanbul becomes 2390 miles and Moscow 2448.

The jump in mileage accounted for by having to go south to Paris once on the continent, then double back on yourself to go north east to Moscow.

As the crow flies 1800 to Istanbul and 1600 to Moscow. So depends which metric you want to calculate by 😂.

Unless somebody can come up with something better these routes may only be trumped by a [Transatlantic Tunnel](https://youtu.be/tvarILvKD_8) (not in our lifetime.)
