| Comment | I'd disagree entirely that it's pointless. Of course, it's not going to sway Kremlin opinion and enact any change in their forces' intentions, but what it does do is support those who are currently watching helplessly from afar as their families hide in bunkers many miles away.
My wife attended Edinburgh yesterday and she said the overwhelming sense amongst those of Eastern European descent was that of massive gratitude toward Scottish people who had come out in a show of support. Sometimes these things don't need to be done to directly enact change, sometimes it's just good to put your arm around someone who is suffering and listen to them.
Sure there will be those that attend for a photo op, but to suggest the whole thing is self serving is cynically wide of the mark and is a pretty sad indictment of where you yourself are as a person. |
