Even the Giffnockers (Giffnockians?) rarely did a full shop there. They had some beautiful stuff there, amazing bread, chacuterie, really interesting wines and beers, quiches and cakes. As far as I could tell, most people did their main shop elsewhere and topped it up with the stuff you couldn't get anywhere else. Waitrose in Mearns hadn't opened yet so when Wholefoods announced that they were closing we had kind of hoped for a Waitrose... Then Lidl Sait they will take over. Apparently a lot of locals were unimpressed and worried about scum Lidl shoppers lowering the tone.
