This. Since the independence campaigning, it's been painted as us living on the doorstep of a massive heap of nuclear submarines. They're at Faslane for a couple of days every three months. Prestwick Airport sees way more military action than Faslane, and would definitely be a target before an empty submarine garage.
Also there's absolutely no way we'd be welcome into NATO or the EU if we'd just shut down one of Europe's main nuclear bases. |
