Comment | I know everybody else is saying Slaters, and I'm gonna say Slaters as well because they are an absolute institution.
I was unemployed for a few years, on the dole and finally had an interview. Jobcentre gave me a cheque for 150 to get a suit for the interview. I went in with my wee slip from the jobcentre listing what I needed, gave it to one of the older guys that worked there, and he checked the list they'd given, asked me a few questions and instead of giving me things like a tie, socks, etc which I already had (and didn't need) he made sure that for the money I got multiple sets of work clothes that fit and shoes for the job I was doing. Those clothes lasted me so long, that by the time I was replacing the shirts I'd nearly forgot my experience.
Just the standard of respect, care, and attention to my needs given when I was at my mental lowest, even when they knew from the beginning I was there with my wee coupon from the dole. I wouldn't buy a suit anywhere else, they've already won my business for a lifetime. |
