Personal experience. I was in was a cycling accident and had to wait in an ambulance for four and a half hours before i was allowed in the building. I was told by two different members off staff that the accident and emergency can easily be overrun because they are about 100 beds too short. The idea was so you get a room for each patient while it is good It's not effective. I have been in the hospital a lot over the last few years and it is awesome your own room with a TV and WiFi but it's still not solving problems.
