> the price was £60 to East Kilbride via Clarkston

In a hack that's not really a terrible price.

15 years ago I had to make that exact taxi journey, EK via Clarkston, every single weekend, and we are talking at least £20-£30 in a private hire 15 years ago. So with the last 15 years inflation, and the fact it was a hack, I would have assumed around £40-50.

> Pretty shocking of a taxi driver to do this to two women

What else is he supposed to do? Give you a discount because it's two women? At least he was upfront about it, some drivers would have driven off without mentioning a price, then sting you when you get home, or even worse, notify you of some extortionate price halfway to your destination (but conveniently near a cash machine), so you are already over what you intended to spend on a taxi and are in the middle of nowhere, and they tell you they will take you to the police station if you don't pay it. It's happened to my sister more than once, and me too before I became wise to it.

The worst experience I ever had was having to get a taxi from Largs to Clarkston via Shawlands at 3am because my mate was ill. Paid £80 upfront, dropped my mate off in Shawlands, and the driver takes off towards Clarkston, then stops and tells me to get out too unless I have another £20. He was literally driving back past where I wanted to go anyway, I just hadn't got out on the way up because I was looking after my mate, but he demanded more money or he would phone the police and tell them I'm abusing him and refusing to pay. I just sat in the back of his taxi for 10 minutes calling him every name under the sun then left before the police came and walked for 2 hours to get home.
