I took a West End rental at the end of 2019 and handed the keys back last month. I had a decent enough relationship with the landlord so took an active part in helping him find a new tennent (read: I was there for the open house, told people he's not a cunt). He had insane interest, phone ringing off the hook, people saying they'd take it without even viewing, and ultimately he gave it to someone who offered 1yr upfront. It really showed me that even in the space of a year the demand had shot right up, and it was already murder when I found that flat in 2019.
