So so so so true. I wish the buyer market rewarded first time buyers more and made the barriers to entry for 2nd home or 3rd home buyers much more extensive. I do have some faith left that things can turn around, but this bleeding out of housing supplies and the lower middle class has been ongoing in England for over a decade and Scotland didnt seem to brace for this phenomena. Like OP my partner are looking for a flat, at this rate we are looking to rent a single bedroom in a flatshare on spareroom.com. Thats where the good flats tend to be, they are already rented out in flatshares and you just have to hope to get lucky and slowly take over it as your flatmates move out!
