This is so completely untrue, and xenophobic.

Scotland and the rest of the UK are literally reeling for immigrants to fill labour shortages that impacted us post Brexit. Not to mention, you and keto\_vin seem to think that the students that arrive stay after their degree, THE LARGE MAJORITY DO NOT. For reasons including visa regulation, take me for example, I am a Malaysian mechanical engineer who studied in Sheffield, my barrier to entry to be granted a visa was to earn 33k minimum in a shortage field (engineering), companies also have to be registered to sponsor my visa, which only massive corporations have the ability to do (i work for BAE Sys) and the visa costs 2k per contract offer, im on my second contract, costing my business 4k. Needless to say, not many people can earn 33k as a fresh grad, have degrees in shortage fields (mostly STEM), and have companies dying to pay extra to hire them, in essence the structural racism/xenophobia/anti immigrant mentality rife in the UK.

If you want a reason why rent prices are going up, educate yourself on the incompetency of the tory party, lack of rent caps, lack of subsidised housing and AFFORDABLE new builds for the middle class, lack of barriers of entry to home owners wishing to buy their 2nd,3rd, etc home. The rich, along with your prejudice, are your issues.
