It doesn't sound like you'll have much trouble getting a nice flat to rent, if you're an accountant you'll be able to afford market rates and will come across as trustworthy to a landlord (I don't agree with that system but that's how it is unfortunately). The nicest areas are the west end (and it has great links to the city centre by tube anywhere around Partick, Kelvinhall, Hillhead, Kelvinbridge, and st George's Cross stations) or Southside - anywhere around Pollokshields, Queens Park, or Shawlands you should be grand and there's regular buses and trains into town. Don't think you need to go as far as Paisley or Stirling, unless you're wanting to save cash on rent.
