You should insulate under your floorboards but only because it will save you money on heating, with the added bonus of absorbing some noise. Then get a carpet with some decent underlay, insulating under the floorboards is a fairly big job but it’s rather simple and totally worth doing, it’s generally estimated to make about a 10% difference to heating costs.
