| Comment | Is it private sector? If yes then I second the request for a one off allowance from the new employer. I've had that twice before in new jobs. It was a few hundred pounds and not a full pay of course but paid for household expenses for a few weeks then was deducted from following payrolls.
If they really can't arrange that for you, then if it's an option for you I can honestly recommend asking your own bank what credit card you are eligible for (if you haven't got a good one on the go already). Some of them have decent interest free periods so you should be able to pay towards it as you start getting paid without racking up extra costs anytime soon. Obv if there's no 0% interest option, or you already have credit cards with large balances, then of course avoid taking on any more. |
