At the moment, gas and electric prices are high and will get higher. You might find a flat that has a fixed price fuel supplier on a good rate if you’re lucky, but I’m not sure if companies will let new tenants take over an existing tariff.

There will likely be another significant increase in October. This would be the cost that would affect your budget the most - rent and council tax won’t change over the year, but your fuel will.

A modern property will have lower bills as you don’t need to run the heating as long. There are a lot of older, poorly insulated flats in Glasgow and heating them can cost a fortune. Build in some contingency to your budget to reflect this.
