To answer: you can sometimes find cheaper property anywhere.
If you are fixed upon schools/commute time/area often compromises have to be made.
I’d suggest (as above) that for what the OP wants Glasgow doesn’t fit the remit and offered ideas of where they can broaden their search to as they clearly don’t know the region.
