Comment | Some practical ideas that I implemented when I lived beneath a kid who was a gymnast, and above a Jack Russell with separation anxiety who barked a lot, when I first started working from home:
Soundproof the ceiling and walls - My landlord paid for this and it made a huge difference! I think the stuff was called Kingspan and was large sheets that you nailed to the walls/ceiling.
Buy a white noise machine - sounds like new-age bollocks but it works! I now use mine when I have trouble getting to sleep.
Hang heavy curtains and put rugs/carpet on your flooring - it helps insulate your flat and lessens outside noise from creeping in as it makes your flat less echo-y.
Honestly…if you do any of these things, you’ll notice a difference. It would also be a bonus if your above neighbour did the soundproofing & curtains/rugs/carpets too which she might be open to. |
