Comment | Oh god, it’s a whole saga. COLAB were actually asset managers brought in by the savoy centre owners as part of a “regeneration project” - aka gentrification of the savoy centre, with the intention of slowly kicking out established tenants. They set up the art/design community initiative as a way to make this process look more palatable to the general public- bring in artists, give them low cost spaces, get some cool stuff going on, and slowly kick out existing shops while nobody is looking. One of the new artist residents talked about it a lot on their Instagram- the whole experience of dealing with COLAB, how they started speaking to existing tenants and hearing how badly they were being treated, writing letters of complaint, etc. They’ve outlined it in their stories, it’s well worth a read
