OK big brain dump. Going for broad brush here.

Firstly, apps on phones and devices. There’s Star Walk and at least one more that you can point your phone up at the sky - clouds, raining, light pollution or whatever - and it will tell you, and the wean - what’s up there.

For the telescope itself - tbh anywhere in the city is going to be problematic as the background light pollution means it’s hard to see stuff against the background glow. The weather here isn’t much of a help either.

But there are designated places nearby that are dark sky, and it might be a great weekend trip to go down to Galloway and have a really good look at the sky that you simply can’t see in or near the city. Though the app helps.

For something directly related to Glasgow though? Well? Close by stars are still stars. Stone circles were designed to tell people back then about the turning of the seasons. And the sighhill stone circle is still the most recently created, astronomically correct stone circle in the UK at the very least.

There used to be other local stuff going on. Paisley obvservatory? Something toing on at Glasgow? I’m years out of date here.

But OMG, pointing an iPad at the sky, and saying *that* star, and having all the info to hand? I loved that.
