Comment | As the New ones in the building, the etiquette is for you to receive the gifts, however there is absolutely nothing to obligate neighbours to give you a gift. When I moved in to my first gaff in the centre, I got a bottle of wine from my next door neighbour and a hello from the remainder in the corridor, when I moved to my next gaff in Clydebank I got some teabags and a couple of cans from my neighbours. Use it as a guide for how much they want to be friendly; if they go all out with a gift, a card and that they probably want to be friends, if they do nothing, they probably want to live their lives and the interaction you’ll get will be a hey in the stairs/lifts. |
