I only graduated a few months ago. I’ve got my own business so I can afford to be picky about jobs. I’ve been offered two but they weren’t remote, so I passed on them. I only want to work remotely and within e-commerce development so I’ve applied for far, far fewer jobs than most people leaving the course as they will probably apply for everything and anything and take the first job they can get to get on the ladder.

Every person that was in my class is employed within the industry. Most jobs I’ve seen advertised and the ones I’ve applied for are around 24-26k for a graduate/junior role and after around 6-12mths it would go up to around 30-35k.

My two bits of advice are -

1. don’t work while you’re doing the course. I had to as I’ve got a business to run, and I had to pay for the course (there is funding available but I didn’t qualify). It was almost impossible to do the classes, homework, run my business and run my house & be a parent. I’ve used the time since graduating to build on my learning.

2. Don’t go into the course with zero coding experience as you will fall behind quickly. The marketing says that no experience is necessary. Everyone in my class had previous experience and the class doesn’t go at the speed of the weakest person. Sign up to Codecademy and do the Python, JavaScript courses first.
