It feels, as a GCC taxpayer myself, like we’re shouldering a significant burden for public functions that are enjoyed extensively by residents of neighbouring councils. Glasgow Life is clearly a disaster of an arm’s length organisation, and consumes a huge chunk of budget. Call folk from neighbouring councils tourists all you like, but it’s a hard pill to swallow when I pay more council tax in a two bed flat than pals a few miles away (in much nicer surroundings with better bin collections etc) pay for a four bed house. |
